Google desktop rankings, tracked daily in our rank tracker, December 2023 to March 2024.
Every few months Google releases a core or spam update, and every time, buyers ask the same question: do these PBN links still work? In early 2024 we tested it with the data from three client orders. All three keywords moved up after our PBN links went live, and all three held their new positions for months, including the first weeks of Google’s March 2024 core update.
Keywords, URLs and locations are hidden to protect our clients’ privacy.
Client 1: #26 to #2
This keyword bounced between #20 and #50 through late November and December 2023. At the end of December it jumped into the top 5, settled at #2 to #3, and held there through mid-March 2024.

Client 2: #41 to #2
The biggest move of the three. The keyword started at #41 in late November 2023 and dipped as low as the #50s in mid-December. Around 22 December it jumped to #10, then kept climbing steadily through January and February to reach #2 in March 2024, a gain of 39 positions.

Client 3: #33 to #11
This keyword sat between #29 and #38 until early January 2024, then jumped to #11 in a single move around 8 January and stayed between #9 and #11 through March. It’s now at the edge of page 1, which is where a follow-up round of links usually does the most good.

What these results show
- The gains stuck. None of the three keywords dropped back after the initial jump. Stable rankings are a better sign of link quality than a short spike.
- Movement came in steps. Each keyword made one sharp jump, and two of them kept climbing afterwards.
- Results vary by keyword. Two reached #2; one reached #11. Competition, the page itself and the number of links all play a part.
What the clients said

How to get similar results
- Make sure the page deserves to rank. Good content, a clear title and headings, and internal links.
- Keep exact-match anchors under 10% of your backlink profile.
- Keep building. A strong order followed by a monthly round of links beats one order and then nothing.
- Track daily so you can see which pages respond and where to build next.
Newer results
We’ve kept tracking since 2024. For our most recent data, see the September 2026 case study, where one keyword went from #75 to #3 in six days and #1 rankings rose from 35 to 62, and our 2025 results in Do PBN links still work in 2026?
Why rankings move in steps after PBN links
Look at the three graphs above and you will notice that none of them climbed in a smooth line. They waited, then jumped. That pattern is normal, and it has a simple cause.
Google has to crawl each new link before it can count it, and it does not find every link on the same day. While only a few links have been found, the page barely moves. Once enough of them are crawled and counted, the page moves up in one clear step. That is why Client 3 jumped to #11 in a single move, while Client 2 climbed steadily as more links were found over several weeks.
So a quiet first week after an order is not a sign that something is wrong. It usually means Google is still finding the links.
How we set up a test like this
A test only means something if other changes do not muddy the result. For these three clients we kept the setup simple:
- One main keyword per client, with a target page that already ranked somewhere in the top 50.
- No other big changes to the target page while the links went live.
- Links added in one planned round, with natural, mixed anchor text.
- Daily tracking in our rank tracker, so every move is visible.
- Results judged over months, not days, because a short spike proves little. Holding a position is what counts.
What to do if your keyword stalls
Sometimes a keyword climbs, then stops a few places short of where you want it. When that happens, we work through this list:
- Check the target page. Is it indexed, fast and better than the pages above it? Links work best on a page that deserves to rank.
- Compare the pages above you. If they have far more referring domains, one round of links will not be enough to pass them.
- Add a follow up round. A steady flow of links usually beats one big order. Our Monthly Rental Sticky Homepage PBN Links are built for exactly this.
- Diversify. Adding a few niche edits or guest posts makes the profile look more natural.
- Give it time. Wait a few weeks after each round before you judge it, so Google has time to find every link.
