Google desktop rankings, tracked daily in our rank tracker, December 2023 to March 2024.

Every few months Google releases a core or spam update, and every time, buyers ask the same question: do these PBN links still work? In early 2024 we pulled the data from three client orders to answer it. All three keywords moved up after our PBN links went live, and all three held their new positions for months, including the first weeks of Google’s March 2024 core update.

Keywords, URLs and locations are hidden to protect our clients’ privacy.

Client 1: #26 to #2

This keyword bounced between #20 and #50 through late November and December 2023. At the end of December it jumped into the top 5, settled at #2–#3, and held there through mid-March 2024.

Rank tracker graph of client 1 keyword moving from position 26 to position 2 in late December 2023 and holding until March 2024
Client 1: from #26 to #2, holding for nearly three months.

Client 2: #41 to #2

The biggest move of the three. The keyword started at #41 in late November 2023 and dipped as low as the #50s in mid-December. Around 22 December it jumped to #10, then kept climbing steadily through January and February to reach #2 in March 2024, a gain of 39 positions.

Client 2: from #41 to #2, climbing steadily for three months.

Client 3: #33 to #11

This keyword sat between #29 and #38 until early January 2024, then jumped to #11 in a single move around 8 January and stayed between #9 and #11 through March. It’s now at the edge of page 1, which is where a follow-up round of links usually does the most good.

Rank tracker graph of client 3 keyword jumping from position 33 to position 11 in January 2024 and holding through March
Client 3: from #33 to #11 in one move, then stable.

What these results show

  • The gains stuck. None of the three keywords dropped back after the initial jump. Stable rankings are a better sign of link quality than a short spike.
  • Movement came in steps. Each keyword made one sharp jump, and two of them kept climbing afterwards.
  • Results vary by keyword. Two reached #2; one reached #11. Competition, the page itself and the number of links all play a part.

What the clients said

How to get similar results

  1. Make sure the page deserves to rank. Good content, a clear title and headings, and internal links.
  2. Keep exact-match anchors under 10% of your backlink profile.
  3. Build steadily. A monthly round of links beats one big burst.
  4. Track daily so you can see which pages respond and where to build next.
